HP's Todd Bradley: Surface is no competition to us
TB: It changes every cycle. If you watch Vista to 7 to 8, they're different. This seems to be a well-accepted slower ramp because touch is such a big piece of it.
CITEworld: Does Windows 8 make sense without touch?
TB: Depends on the customer. You can clearly use it and navigate it. It's a question of pricing, how do you get a broad set of touch products with prices that are relevant. Microsoft has clearly tried to dictate to customers what they need. If you look at retail orders, what we built with touch related to Windows 8, touch is a small percentage of that. It's a price point issue, it's a go to market issue, it's an orientation issue.
CITEworld: What should we expect from HP next year?
TB: A lot of work on products like Ink in the Office, Ink Advantage, some other ink products we're in test with in the United States. A lot of work in point of sale. A lot of work with devices in the enterprise that are broadly ubiquitous, getting away from commercial and consumer and just having one set of IT products.
